Old Age Should Burn And Rave At Close Of Day

Art’s Birthday Wales

Last Friday 13 January, we invited Arts Birthday Wales to celebrate with us as we kicked off our new Glynn Vivian Offsite events at the YMCA in Swansea.

The idea of celebrating 17 January (TODAY!) as Art’s Birthday was proposed by sometime Fluxus artist Robert Filliou in 1963, and artist groups around the world now host an array of events to mark the occasion.

To see what we got up to and for more events from Art’s Birthday go to www.artsbirthdaywales.tumblr.com

Big thanks to Barnaby Dicker, Matt Hulse and Elizabeth Lawrence for making the celebration such a success.

Next event at the YMCA: Artist Talk: Vetch Veg,  Friday 27 January at 1pm

Artist Owen Griffiths discusses his latest project, Vetch Veg, where he has turned the former Swansea City Ground into a community Allotment.

Owen Griffiths will be in conversation to discuss the relevance of this kind of artwork in this financial and creative climate. Please come along and tell others!
