Sandfields Festival of Ideas

Firstly, we’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone who took part in the Sandfields Festival of Ideas at Vetch Veg in Swansea last weekend. It was a truly amazing three days of talks, performance, film, cooking, music and dancing and all who were able to join us have said how much they enjoyed the experience. To see what we got up to, click here.

We would like to give a special mention to our incredible guest speakers, including Alistair Hudson from Grizedale Arts, Shimabuka and Nina Pope, who travelled some distance to be with us. We’d also like to thank Paul Duerinckx, Nils Norman, Rabab Ghazoul, Fern Thomas, Juneau Projects, Maria Pask, Paul Granjon and of course our spectacular resident artist in the Shed; Peter Finnemore, for all their contributions.

For providing the soundtrack to the weekend, we would like to say thank you to Joan Jones, Doc Daneeka, Aled Simons, The UKoholix and the exquisite Sarah Passmore.

There are so many people who helped to make it such a success, but we especially want to express our heartfelt thanks to Owen Griffiths, Carys Shannon and all the cooks and gardeners, who worked tirelessly for weeks in preparation to bring you such a wonderful festival!

If you did manage to come along – we’d love to hear your comments and see your pictures so please feel free to share them on our facebook page.

Next up: Our free workshop programme starts this Saturday 8 September, with family drop in workshops from 11am – 4pm at our new offsite base at the YMCA in Swansea City Centre.

Hope you can pop along and create an amazing piece of artwork with us!

For the full programme of forthcoming exhibitions and events, visit our website or call 01792 516900.

See you soon!

  1. Thanks for putting on and organising such a fab event which was really enjoyed I think by everyone who attended. Great vibe all round.

    Loving those wellies!

  2. What a wonderful weekend. I wish I’d managed to get to more but Rabab’s baklava, Peter Finnemore’s inflatable animals, Joan Joans’ capelet/Ukelele stylings and the generally jolly atmosphere amongst the fruit and veg made for a great trip to Swansea (where the sun always seems to shine for art projects). Thank you.
